Our Certificate in Systemic Practice (online) includes complete online delivery, term time weekly teaching over 8 months and small class sizes.

The course offers the same levels of support, tutorials, lectures, tutor groups and connection to practice as the in-person Certificate courses.

The course still offers IFT’s unique, responsive environment and team approach to teaching systemic ideas online.

Welcome to our online course, dates are to be confirmed. This course mirrors our London office in-person programme, focusing on systemic approaches to working with children, families, couples and communities.

Entry Requirements

No previous training in systemic work is required.

Participants should have appropriate professional training or equivalent, such as social work, nursing, psychiatry or clinical psychology and will need to be working with at least three separate families or couples during the course to write assignments.

Course Content

Divided into two units; Theory and Skills, running concurrently,
The teaching in both will develop the participants’ understanding of:

  • Theory and methods of systemic intervention
  • Different applications of systemic approaches with children, families, couples and communities
  • Ways of observing and understanding the interaction between people in family, couple and professional relationships
  • Methods of intervention
  • Different applications of a systemic perspective
  • Personal development of the practitioner
  • Anti-oppressive practice from a systemic perspective
