What is social action? Living our values in practice
This members’ talk is an invitation into an exploration of how we can live our values more fully through putting social action into practice. What is Systemic Social Action? will be both a presentation around the key ideas underpinning systemic social action and social action research, as well as a discussion around your own connections to this thinking in your own practice and lived experience.
The event aims to begin a process of coproduction, with you as audience, exploring ways in which we can enhance our current thinking and practice through embedding elements of systemic social action at multiple levels in our systems, our training and ways of working. Our aim is to enhance the lives of our clients and communities, privileging lived experience as well as learned experience and taking small steps towards social justice.

Sumita DuttaCo-DirectorSumita is a Systemic Family Psychotherapist and supervisor. She has worked in various NHS child and adult mental health settings for the last 24 years. Most recently she has been the Consultant Systemic Family Psychotherapist in Hertfordshire CAMHS.
She has published a range of systemic literature on clinical practice and supervision as well as co-editing a training manual for professionals in ‘race’ and culture. For many years she was the Chair of Graduate Certificate courses at IFT as well as teaching on satellite and supervision courses.
Sumita has a particular interest in how we conceptualise and work with modern family formations. She is re-joining IFT to pursue her passion for expanding systemic ideas across professional and geographical borders and will focus on the cutting edges of systemic practice worldwide. -
