Sonia qualified as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist at IFT in 2016, and is fully registered with UKCP and AFT. Sonia has worked as a MSc Course Tutor for IFT since 2018. Sonia initially qualified as a Social Worker and has over 15 years of experience in working with children, young people and families in a variety of settings. She has worked both as a practitioner and as a manager. She has particular experience in child protection, family court work and cultural assessments. Sonia worked for 7 years as a manager within a West London local authority multidisciplinary service providing specialist children’s services and always retained a practice element. She has over 10 years of clinical experience working within social care and offering social workers and managers clinical consultations. She is currently working as a Family Therapist / Specialist Clinician for a CAMHS Tier 2 service within Achieving for Children, South-West London, providing assessments and treatments for children and families within a safeguarding context. Sonia is very interested in the delivery and embedding of systemic practices in Early Help and Children’s Social Care. She has a particular interest in attachment narratives and the role of trauma in family relationships.
